Imagine Earth Galaxies DLC Takes Colony Building To The Next Level

What Is Imagine Earth?

I have a strong fondness for factory-building and colony management games. While I'm not the best at them, I find the relaxing challenges they offer quite enjoyable. When I first received a key for Imagine Earth from the development team Serious Bros, I didn't expect to become as deeply immersed in this game as I have. However, before diving into the DLC Imagine Earth Galaxies, let's first discuss the base game for those new to it.

Imagine Earth is an award-winning economic strategy game and a climate crisis simulator where you can build and manage your global civilization. You must manage resources, develop infrastructure, and engage in trade to thrive and prosper. Additionally, you can research to create sustainable production lines and renewable energy sources, which help lower emissions and mitigate global warming, reducing the risks of increasing disasters and rising sea levels.

The game eases you in by starting as a relaxed city builder and resource management game, which can quickly turn into an environmental survival thriller based on your development decisions. The game places you in the role of a "global economic player". You can compete against rival corporations or form strategic alliances to tackle diplomatic and environmental issues at the World Congress. Your final challenge is to preserve the quality of life for your inhabitants while establishing a balance between growth and sustainability.

Imagine Earth is a game loaded with features and tools to help you achieve these goals. The key is learning the most optimal way of using them to see your colony flourish.

Colonize Entire Galaxies 

While the base game had you building colonies on planets in a single system. Galaxies introduces a new campaign style game mode, where players compete with NPC corporations to colonize entire galaxies and coordinate their progress on a central space station. The corporations compete to establish thriving colonies on several planets putting everything players learned to the ultimate test. The space station is your best friend as it serves as the headquarters and central hub for your planetary colonies. It also enables interplanetary research and licensing of technology allowing you to unlock extensions for your city centers. From handling shares, to establishing trade, to competitions for economic dominance almost anything is possible in Galaxies. 

The DLC also introduces tons of new features veteran and new players will enjoy. Things such as an orbital lift that lets you move your hard earned resources and items quickly and without cost (something you must consider when setting up trade and sharing of resources) between the colonies and your main space station. It also introduces new hazards like asteriods, twisters, rising sea levels, volcanoes and more. 

While immensely fun and engrossing Imagine Earth Galaxies can feel a bit overwhelming if you are still not fully familiar with all the features of the base game so it is highly recommended you finish the base game campaign before diving into the DLC. Otherwise Imagine Earth Galaxies is a amazing time with hundreds (if not more) hours of entertainment. Serious Bros has truly outdone themselves with Galaxies and I cannot wait to see what else they have in store. Imagine Earth Galaxies is available now on  Steam and Xbox
