Macross Finally Comes To The West
What a great time to be a MACROSS fan. For over 40 years, MACROSS has been at the pinnacle of sci-fi mecha anime in Japan, boasting five full animated series, eight movies, and six OVAs, MACROSS has endured with the likes of Gundam and Robotech. Unfortunately for those in the West, getting the MACROSS anime series and games proved difficult. Thankfully, that’s all in the past now, as not only can you watch every MACROSS on Hulu, but we are also getting an English version of their latest game MACROSS – Shooting Insight, thanks to the publisher Red Art Games.
The title boasts new features, mechanics, and multiple gameplay styles developed by Kaminari Games, the studio behind Raiden V Director’s Cut. You can watch the launch trailer below.
A New Macross For A New (and Older) Generation
Publisher Red Art Games announced that the Western version of Macross -Shooting Insight- will be launching on February 7, 2025, in both North America and Europe for the Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PS4 as digital releases (a physical version will be released later in the year) and marks the first official release of a MACROSS title in the West. Those hoping to get their hands on the game's special editions must visit Red Art Games’ official online store to do so, as they will not be available from any retailer. There is no set date yet for the physical release, so we will be sure to update this article as soon as one becomes available.
The setting for Macross -Shooting Insight- seems to be tapping into the multiverse well in an original story that brings together pilots, songstresses, and other characters from across five MACROSS series (MACROSS Plus, MACROSS Zero, MACROSS 7, MACROSS Frontier & MACROSS Delta) and also includes fan-favorite songs from the series. If you are new to the MACROSS franchise now is the perfect time to get into it.
