Monster Hunter Wilds First Major Update Launches April 4th

New Features a Plenty

During this week's Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announced that the first free Title Update for the critically acclaimed and best-selling action RPG will be released on April 4, 2025. Title Update 1 introduces the leviathan monster Mizutsune, along with new challenges and features such as Arch-Tempered Rey Dau, the opening of the Grand Hub gathering area, and the inaugural Festival seasonal event, among other additions.

Last seen in Monster Hunter Rise, Mizutsune will be available to players at Hunter Rank 21 who speak with Kanya in the Scarlet Forest. Players who are new to the franchise or haven’t played Rise should prepare for Mizutsune's graceful attacks and immobilizing bubbles. For players at Hunter Rank 41 and above, tempered versions of Mizutsune will also start appearing in the environment.

For those seeking a greater challenge, Arch-Tempered Rey Dau will debut in an Event Quest for players above Hunter Rank 50, along with a new Rey Dau Gamma armor set as a reward. Players of this rank will also be able to face off against the story's endgame boss, Zoh Shia, once again. After defeating Zoh Shia, it will appear during the Wyvern’s Wakening event in the Ruins of Wyveria, allowing players to gather Zoh Shia parts for high-rank hunter and Palico equipment.

New Quests and Challenges

The free update also introduces Arena Quests, Challenge Quests, and Free Challenge Quests. Challenge Quests and the newly introduced Free Challenge Quests will function as limited-time Event Quests. Arena Quests and Challenge Quests can be completed by up to two players using pre-determined equipment. However, Free Challenge Quests do not have equipment restrictions and can include hunting parties of up to four players. For more cautious players, Support Hunters will still be available.

Calling All Hunters

The Grand Hub makes its debut in Monster Hunter Wilds as a massive gathering space for hunters to engage in a variety of new activities. Players can compete in the new Barrel Bowling minigame to earn useful items and pendants. In the Grand Hub, hunters can also experience the traditions of the village of Suja, including occasional vocal performances by the village Diva at night. To access the Grand Hub, players must speak to Tetsuzan in Suja after reaching Hunter Rank 16. The Squad Information Counter will move from the Windward Plains to the Grand Hub, making it easier for players to manage their squads. Additionally, the entrance to the Grand Hub will feature the Expedition Record Board, displaying the fastest global clear times for the newly added Arena Quests, along with Arena Quest limited bounties.

Each season, a unique celebration will take place in the Grand Hub, starting with the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance, which will run from April 23 to May 7. During these festivals, the appearance and available meals in the Grand Hub will change, allowing hunters to acquire limited-time equipment, gestures, Pop-Up Camp decorations, and more. In addition to seasonal Event Quests, many previously held Event Quests will also return. Arch-Tempered Rey Dau will be featured in an Event Quest towards the end of the festival, running from April 30 to May 21.

Another update is planned for the end of May, including a collaboration with another Capcom title, the ability to view captured Endemic Life, and various adjustments. The first free update for Monster Hunter Wilds launches on April 4, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
