Star Trek Online Celebrates 15 Years With Its New Season - Unveiled

A Long-Standing Journey Towards The Final Frontier

I have been a Star Trek Online (STO) fan since its original PC exclusive launch in 2010. It wasn’t free-to-play then, as I had to purchase a physical disc to play the ambitious game. While I haven’t played it consistently over the years, I have poured hundreds of hours and reached a point in the game that would make even Captain Kirk jealous of my space-faring adventures. While I am not a fan of many previously paid games going free-to-play (looking at you Destiny 2), it seems to work well for STO. Arc Games have poured enough content into the game over the last 15 years that new players can jump right in and enjoy entire story arcs spanning from season 1, and that trend looks to continue as we enter the MMORPGs’ 15th year.

As announced by Arc Games, Star Trek Online: Unveiled will be the free-to-play MMORPG’s 33rd season and celebration of 15 years. PC players can explore the new episode “Axiom” while participating in the 15th  Anniversary events for new rewards, including the chance for a Garret Command Alliance Dreadnought Cruiser [T6]. Unfortunately, console players must wait until March 11th to play the expansion and anniversary events.

The story has players face a new, more sinister Borg incursion in the Ram Izad system. Star Trek franchise star Jonathan Del Arco, who played fan-favorite Borg Hugh on the fifth and sixth seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation and even reprised his role in season one of Star Trek: Picard, will be playing the character once more for Unveiled. You can watch the launch trailer below.

New Episode Axiom and Events

Our Borg friend Hugh, who is also the Cooperative Borg Faction Leader and Executive Director of the Reclamation Project, sends us a request for help that has players discover a damaged and seemingly abandoned ship of an Aetherian leader in the Delta Quadrant. This soon becomes a search and rescue mission as it will reunite with other familiar faces in the Star Trek universe as they dig to uncover the truth about what transpired aboard the now ghostly ship.

During the anniversary event, players will also be able to collect rewards inspired by Season 5 of Star Trek: Discovery along with new items being added to the Lobi Crystal Store. After 15 years, the long-running title has given Star Trek fans a place to gather and take part in the canonical universe with no signs of slowing down. I think it’s about time I got back in my admiral’s chair, and boldly go where no player has gone before.
